Los Angeles Chargers: Joe Reed, WR

Admittedly, Joe Reed was one player I was all in on. As a receiver, he has some untapped potential. In his four seasons, he finished with 129 catches for 1,465 yards with 16 touchdowns. However, he continually improved in this area, and by his senior season with Virginia, he had 77 catches for 679 yards and seven touchdowns.

He’s a solid route-runner but his ability to adjust to the ball when it’s in the air is what stands out — as does his knack for creating yards after the catch. With all that being said, the Los Angeles Chargers found themselves someone who could develop into a decent slot receiver, which will help Justin Herbert — their top pick in the draft — as he develops in the pros.

However, the real impact the Chargers will get from Reed won’t come on offense but on special teams. For the Cavaliers, he was a stud in the return game, averaging nearly 29-yards per kick return with five touchdowns. The kickoff return hasn’t been as prevalent in the NFL but having a guy who can make something happen in this area is always a plus.

On top of that, Reed played on other special teams units for Virginia and has the makings of a stud for the Chargers not only as a returner but as a gunner on punt coverage. Games can be flipped in this area and finding a guy who can shine here is always a plus.
