Pittsburgh Steelers: Anthony McFarland, WR

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger missed the majority of the 2019 season with an elbow injury that required surgery. With him out, they had to turn to Mason Rudolph, who struggled to hold off Devlin Hodges. Clearly, the return of Big Ben will be the major factor in whether or not the Steelers can rebound from a season that saw them miss out on the playoffs.

It won’t be the only factor though as the Steelers added some help in a couple of key areas, including running back and wide receiver. And that’s where we look to find the possible hidden gem in the Steel City.

Pittsburgh added Chase Claypool in the second round, and the Notre Dame receiver is expected to provide some much-needed help at the position. However, it’s hard to call him a hidden gem when he was taken at No. 49 overall. Anthony McFarland, however, is a different story.

Taken at No. 124 overall, the Maryland running back could end up being on the field a lot for the Steelers as they haven’t had the best luck when it comes to keeping their running back healthy. McFarland isn’t just a guy who will fill in for James Conner should he get injured again but he can also be a solid change of pace back.

McFarland has had his own bouts with durability concerns but he’s a player who has broken off several long runs and could be effective whenever asked to spell Conner.
