Seattle Seahawks: Alton Robinson, EDGE

Last season, the Seattle Seahawks took a gamble at the defensive end position as they brought in Jadeveon Clowney via trade and Ezekiel Ansah through free agency. Each player had once been considered a premier edge rusher but were now trying to prove they deserved long-term contracts as they prepared for free agency in 2020.

As of this writing, neither has a new home as they didn’t do enough to get teams to throw big money at them. Clowney played well and has prospects but Ansah’s market has been incredibly quiet after a sub-par campaign.

For the Seahawks, they are hopeful that their top pick from 2019 can end up helping in the absence of these two but L.J. Collier hasn’t shown a lot yet. They did add Darrell Taylor out of Tennessee in the second round this year but he wasn’t the only addition at defensive end.

Seattle wound up using a fifth-round pick on Alton Robinson out of Syracuse who was incredible in 2018 but took a step back in 2019. He still has plenty to offer and looks as though he was built to play on the edge of a defensive line. Seattle’s ability to hit on later picks has been the one thing helping them stay afloat as they seem to reach early and hit late. And in 2020, that’s once again the way things look for them.
