5 NFL players who will improve under a new regime in 2020

When New York Giants general manager Dave Gettelman drafted Daniel Jones out of Duke at No. 6 overall last season, there were plenty of jokes to go around. The belief was that Jones could have been had much later than this and that he was taken before superior options such as Dwayne Haskins.
There were also comparisons to Eli Manning, which spawned from the connection to David Cutcliffe. And man, some of those were pretty funny and worth a search on the old google machine.
As for his play on the field, Jones really did better than expected. He even earned the endearing nickname ‘Danny Dimes’ for his accurate passes. Jones finished his rookie campaign with 3,027 yards with 24 touchdowns and 12 picks.
Now, Jones learns a new system and there will be more jokes. Head coach Joe Judge is the least experienced coach that was hired this offseason so he’s an unknown. What is known is how well his offensive coordinator did in Dallas.
Jason Garrett was hired by Judge and after the way Garrett’s team’s performed in Dallas over the past 10 seasons, it’s easy to be skeptical. Garrett was constantly underperforming and the mediocrity jokes wrote themselves after his flourish of 8-8 finishes.
Having said that, Garrett’s problem was never quarterback play. He struggled to field a consistent offense and his defense was usually a hot mess. But he did well working with Tony Romo early in his career and helped Dak Prescott become a winner.
Sure, he never got them over the top but he helped them become solid players and Jones could benefit some from the new regime.
