Ranking the Dallas Cowboys 10 best players on the roster

9. Michael Gallup, Wide Receiver
In 2018, the Dallas Cowboys tried to approach the season with a committee of wide receivers. They had just released Dez Bryant and replaced him with free-agent signing Allen Hurns, veteran Tavon Austin who came over via trade, and third-round rookie Michael Gallup.
It didn’t take long for them to realize this approach was ill-advised. After seven games, they added Amari Cooper through a trade with the Oakland Raiders. Cooper’s addition helped the offense find their rhythm — and it allowed players such as Gallup to find their role in the offense.
As the No. 2 receiver opposite Cooper, Gallup has developed into a consistent threat and was actually on pace for a better statistical season than Cooper had he not been injured. Gallup had to have knee surgery and missed just two games, proving his toughness. Even with the missed time, he had 66 catches for 1,107 yards and six touchdowns.
Where he really stood out was as a deep threat, recording 16.8 yards per catch and had a long of 62-yards. Most importantly, Gallup increased his catching percentage from 48.5 percent to 58.4 according to Pro Football Reference.
Dallas went from a team in desperate need of a No. 1 wide receiver to one that boasted two players with more than 1,000-yards receiving and they now added another stud in CeeDee Lamb. They’re stacked at this position and Gallup is one of their better overall players this season.
