NFL Power Rankings: Chiefs, Ravens remain hot as facilities begin to reopen
By Randy Gurzi
Last season was tough for the Cincinnati Bengals. It was the first season for new head coach Zac Taylor and it went about as bad as possible. The Bengals were able to win just two games all season as they struggled on both sides of the ball as they were 30th in the league in scoring on offense and 25th in defensive scoring according to Pro Football Reference.
This led to them looking for a complete overhaul in the offseason and that started with the No. 1 overall pick, Joe Burrow. They tried to act as though they didn’t know he was going to be their selection in the first round, but everyone knew as soon as the first spot was locked up, they were building a game plan around Burrow.
They also added Tee Higgins in the draft, giving him a wide receiver in the same mold as A.J. Green, who should be back after missing all of the 2019 season. Green is still one of the better receivers in the game when healthy and he should be a great mentor for Higgins.
Cincinnati also made some noise in free agency as they added Trae Waynes, D.J. Reader, and Vonn Bell. It was a solid offseason overall but there’s still a lot of work to be done. And Burrow, who should be a star, will have his work cut out for him with this roster.
