NFL Power Rankings: Chiefs, Ravens remain hot as facilities begin to reopen
By Randy Gurzi
It’s hard to unseat the champs. The Kansas City Chiefs have been the most fearsome team in the NFL over the past two seasons. Once they turned the starting quarterback job over to Patrick Mahomes, their offense took flight and no one can keep up.
They made it all the way to the AFC Championship Game in his first season as a starter and had they won the coin flip, they most likely would have marched down the field and won the game, much like Tom Brady and the Patriots did to them.
That loss stung but the Chiefs used it to help them become a better team. Kansas City added a lot of talent to their defense as they realized they needed to improve on that side of the ball in order to win it all. They didn’t need to be elite, but they had to be situationally good — which they are. Pair that with an unstoppable offense and you win titles, which they did in 2019.
And now heading into 2020, there’s no reason to think they won’t be even better. The biggest offseason loss for them was Emmanuel Ogbah, who is an underrated player but he was absent from their title run with an injury. As for additions, they added a running back who fits their offense perfectly in Clyde Edwards-Helaire and improved the depth on their offensive line.
They’re the best team in the NFL right now and they will remain No. 1 in these 2020 NFL Power Rankings until someone came come out and prove they’ve taken a step back.
