Two Seahawks appeared on Madden’s cover over the past 20 years. Shaun Alexander won an appearance in the 2000s, and the cover of Madden 15 featured Richard Sherman. While Alexander won the league MVP in 2005, Sherman became both the voice and face of Seattle’s Legion of Boom during the team’s back-to-back Super Bowl appearances.

Sherman and Marshawn Lynch served as the faces of Seattle’s team during the early 2010s. However, Russell Wilson is the team’s leader now and could go down as the best player in franchise history. He’s kept the Seahawks in playoff contention single-handedly for several years and is more than deserving of a cover shoot.

Patrick Mahomes appeared on the cover of Madden 20, and Lamar Jackson announced he’ll appear on Madden 21. With Tom Brady and Drew Brees appearing on previous Madden editions, Wilson is the only top-five quarterback in the NFL who hasn’t graced the cover of EA’s annual cash cow.

While several other noteworthy quarterbacks could also find themselves featured on Madden’s cover in the future, Wilson is already a perennial MVP candidate. The only other veteran quarterback with a real case for the cover is Aaron Rodgers. However, if Green Bay’s quarterback didn’t make an appearance during either of his MVP seasons, it seems unlikely he’ll earn the spot now.

If Wilson doesn’t get his shot at the cover in the next few seasons, younger quarterbacks might hear their names called. Both Deshaun Watson and Carson Wentz seem primed to take over the NFL in the 2020s.
