Minnesota Vikings: 5 Free agents to sign before training camp
1. Jason Peters
Over the course of the past few seasons, one position of need for the Vikings has come within the offensive line and shoring up that group to protect the quarterback and assist in the run game on that side of the field.
Although Minnesota has worked both in free agency and through the draft in bringing in pieces to the offensive line, there is another intriguing target available on the free agent market that could be worth exploring.
Offensive tackle Jason Peters, who will turn 39 years old in January, could be a nice addition to a young offensive line in purple and gold and would be a solid pick-up this offseason.
Even if he is able to spend just one season in Minnesota, Peters would address a need on the front line to help bolster both the passing and running games for the Vikings, and could just be the type of impact player on offense that Minnesota has been looking for.
Peters, who wrapped up his 16 season in the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2019, would bring in much-needed experience and leadership to Minnesota that could benefit this unit.
Last season, Peters once again proved to be a reliable piece within the Eagles offensive line, appearing in 13 contests for Philadelphia while taking the field for 75 percent of the total offensive snaps.
Peters likely wouldn’t come terrible cheap through free agency, but the nine-time Pro Bowler would no doubt help push the Vikings offensive line over the edge in terms of improvement for at least this season.
