San Francisco 49ers – O.J. Simpson

O.J. Simpson ended up being accused of a vicious murder and there is pretty much no one who thinks justice was served when he was acquitted. However, this isn’t about him off the field but rather on it. And on the field, O.J. Simpson was masterful.

He spent nine seasons with the Buffalo Bills and was their biggest star — possibly ever — until the Jim Kelly era. Simpson was the first running back in league history to ever cross the 2,000-yard mark, which he did in 1973 when he had 2,003 yards and 12 touchdowns — which was even more impressive considering the league played just 14 games at the time. In all, he had 10,183 yards and 57 touchdowns for the Bills.

His final season in Western New York came in 1977 when he missed seven games due to an injury. He was traded the following season to the San Francisco 49ers, which was his hometown team. However, he wasn’t able to do much for them, which makes his stint with the Niners less than memorable.

He played 23 games in two seasons for San Francisco and averaged less than four yards per attempt and had 1,053 yards total in the two campaigns. He wasn’t exactly terrible, but he wasn’t the Juice we all have seen in highlights.
