Seattle Seahawks – Franco Harris

Franco Harris was a throwback football player. A 230-pound fullback, he ran for 11,950 yards and 91 touchdowns in his 12 seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He added another 2,284 yards and nine touchdowns on 306 catches during that span as well. And he stayed strong until the end as he had 1,007 yards in his final season with the Steelers in 1983.

During that time, the Hall of Famer won four Super Bowls, was named to nine Pro Bowls and was the 1972 Offensive Rookie of the Year. He was also on the receiving end of one of the greatest plays in sports history, the “Immaculate Reception.”

On this play, Harris caught a deflected pass on a fourth-and-10, in a divisional playoff game against Oakland, and ran it 40-yards for the game-winning touchdown. The play was controversial as well as remarkable and stands out as Harris’ biggest play of all-time.

What doesn’t stand out is his final season in the NFL. After being released by Pittsburgh in 1984, Harris signed with the Seattle Seahawks. He ended up playing in just eight games for them with 170 yards on the ground.

Jerry Rice is another player who could be the most forgotten about superstar to play in Seattle. In 2004, Rice was traded from the Oakland Raiders to the Seahawks. At age 42, he still proved he could play as he had 25 receptions for 362 yards and three touchdowns.

Harris and Rice were two of the best at their respective positions, and each played their final games in the NFL for Seattle.
