Atlanta Falcons: 3 Early bold predictions for the 2020 season

Making early bold predictions for the Atlanta Falcons in the 2020 season.

The 2020 NFL season will be one of the more important campaigns for the Atlanta Falcons as it tries to erase the disappointment of the last two years with a retooled squad going into the year.

After failing to reach the playoffs in each of the last two seasons, the Falcons will hope to flip the switch and continue to improve in 2020 with the start of a fresh season and some new faces joining familiar staple players on both sides of the ball.

Mirroring the result in the 2018 season, the 2019 campaign a year ago resulted in Atlanta concluding the 16-game regular-season schedule with a record of 7-9 overall and being left out of the playoff field once again. That’s a record and a streak the Falcons will aim to change in 2020.

With that 7-9 record, which included the Falcons finishing the year strong with winning four straight and six of their last eight contests, Atlanta finished second in the NFC South standings behind the first-place and 2019 division champions New Orleans Saints, while tying the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for second and finishing just ahead of the Carolina Panthers at the bottom of the NFC South.

In 2020, the NFC South is suddenly super packed full of talent among the four teams after the Saints, Buccaneers and Panthers all added to their high-powered and potent offenses this offseason to go alongside Atlanta’s already-talented squad on offense.

New Orleans will continue to have a solid offensive group, while Tampa Bay added the likes of Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski and Carolina signed former Vikings and Saints quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to lead the offense alongside Christian McCaffrey.

Leading into the upcoming season, there are still plenty of question marks surrounding the Falcons and how the group on both offense and defense will be able to mesh right out of the gate to try and avoid an early-season collapse like in 2019.

Before the season ultimately kicks off, let’s dive into three bold predictions that will occur during the year and appear in Atlanta by the end of the regular season.
