3. Miami Dolphins

Projected Starting Quarterback: Ryan Fitzpatrick
Backups: Tua Tagoviloa, Josh Rosen, Jake Rudock

Much like the Jets, the Miami Dolphins have had issues finding their franchise quarterback since the departure of Dan Marino in 1999. They’ve sported a number of poor starting quarterbacks, such as Chad Henne or even an old Jay Cutler on his last legs in the NFL.

Miami has a journeyman once again as their starter in Fitzpatrick. However, he’s been dynamic for them in his one season. He’s unafraid of coverage and will just make the throw if he thinks there’s a chance it will be completed — and the stats show as much. He has nine double-digit interception seasons in his career. But while he’s the starter for 2020, he’s not the future for the Dolphins.

With the No. 5 overall pick in the 2020 draft, the franchise nabbed Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa. The Hawaii native was on his way to being the No. 1 pick but, with Joe Burrow’s outrageous season and injuries, Tagovailoa fell into Miami’s laps. However, he’s unlikely to start his rookie season as he continues to rehab behind a solid veteran like Fitzpatrick. But when he does take over, there’s a ton to look forward to.

Tua is extremely talented, which he showcased in every regard for the Crimson Tide. However, there are concerns, partially due to his injury history. He broke his hip this past season, which ended his college career and, at one point, put his football future in jeopardy.

Clearly, the Dolphins are confident in his ability to come back and all reports since have been positive. Still, Miami’s quarterback room is built for the future, which is extremely bright. They have a case to be at No. 2 in these rankings if we’re being honest.
