Dallas Cowboys secure the edge in way too early 7-round 2021 NFL mock draft
By Randy Gurzi
The Cowboys finally have two starting safeties that they believe in this season after signing Ha Ha Clinton-Dix who will join Xavier Woods. It ended a long and frustrating run of bridge safeties as Jason Garrett and Rod Marinelli seemed to believe the position wasn’t too important.
For those who are unaware, it is important. Very important.
And while Dallas does have talent there in 2020, neither player is under contract for the 2021 season. Both could earn another contract but chances are there’s only going to be one of the two retained. If that ends up being the truth, landing a player such as Andre Cisco from Syracuse in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft would be a wise move.
What makes Cisco great is his ability to take the ball away. In two seasons for Syracuse, he has 12 interceptions and according to Joe Marino of The Draft Network, he averages 1.27 defended passes per contest.
The 6-0, 203-pound safety does need to improve as a tackler if he wants to make it as a pro. He doesn’t shy away from contact but he’s not known as a punishing hitter and there are times he whiffs. Of course, if he continues to average six picks per season, no one will care about that in the slightest.
