David Njoku trade landing spot No. 1. Green Bay Packers

Last year, the Green Bay Packers were in the midst of a pretty big change. They had just hired Matt LaFleur as their head coach, who was replacing Mike McCarthy who was there for 13 seasons and won a Super Bowl for them.

LaFleur was installing a new system and focused a lot more on defense. The result was a 13-3 season that ended with a loss in the NFC Championship Game. Throughout the season, their biggest issue was easy to see — quarterback Aaron Rodgers didn’t have enough trusted weapons on offense.

Davante Adams, who is a legit No. 1 wideout, was just about it for him and when he missed four games, they really struggled. It was expected they would add talent in free agency and the draft but they ended with just Devin Funchess as their only free-agent addition. As for the draft, they instead built for the future by drafting Rodgers’ heir in Jordan Love and then took A.J. Dillon who could eventually take over for Aaron Jones when his rookie contract is up.

Now with David Njoku available through trade, the Packers could finally get Rodgers someone capable of stepping up and helping Adams out in the passing game.

Green Bay opened up a hole at the position this year by releasing Jimmy Graham, who was never able to live up to his lofty contract that he signed back in 2018.

Njoku could end up being the speedy tight end and the dangerous red-zone threat they had hoped to be landing in Graham. And he would cost far less against their salary cap to do so.
