These Chicago Bears players are in line for big-time performances in 2020.

The Chicago Bears had a dismal 2019 season. The offense ranked 29th in points scored and yards gained. The passing game ranked last in yards per attempt and the running game ranked 29th in yards per rush.

Despite that, the Bears were in the playoff hunt until late into the season. Their defense was the reason for that. Despite suffering a number of injuries and having to adjust to a new defensive coordinator, the defense finished fourth in points allowed. In fact, the Bears were the only team to have a top-five defense but not make the playoffs.

A number of players had down seasons in 2019. They’re looking to make up for that in the 2020 NFL season. While that is true on the offensive side, there are some defensive players who also feel the need to show something better than they did in 2019, even though the defense played well in general. It’s not to say those players had bad seasons but they didn’t have the seasons they were accustomed to having.

If these players do end up playing well in 2020, they’ll make the Chicago Bears a tough team to play. Again, as bad as the offense was there were only about two games in which they were blown out (New Orleans Saints and Kansas City Chiefs).

They had opportunities in every other game. If these offensive players do well, that raises the total offense. If the offense can get to the middle of the road status and the defense continues to play elite, the Bears are definitely strong playoff contenders.

Here are five players who will have a big 2020 and help the Chicago Bears have a better season than in 2019.
