Henry Ruggs III leads rookie wide receivers in Madden 21 ratings.

One day after EA Sports revealed the Madden ratings for rookie quarterbacks, the Madden 21 player ratings for rookie wide receivers followed. And leading to way was the first player selected at the position in the 2020 NFL Draft, Henry Ruggs III of the Las Vegas Raiders, formerly of the Alabama Crimson Tide.

While Ruggs only has a 76 overall Madden rating, the big thing about his rating that people are pointing to is that the Raiders youngster received a 98 speed rating. As noted by ESPN’s Field Yates, only one player in Madden 20 had a higher speed rating, some guy named Tyreek Hill — maybe you’ve heard of him.

Of course, Ruggs getting 98 speed makes complete sense. The speedster ran a 4.27-second 40-yard dash at the 2020 NFL Combine, the fastest of any player in the class and just .05 seconds off of the record. Thus, having him up there with Hill in terms of speed makes sense.

Ruggs is followed close behind by CeeDee Lamb (Cowboys) and Jerry Jeudy (Broncos), who both received 76 ratings. Eagles fans will likely continue to decry Philly, though, as Justin Jefferson received a higher overall rating (74) than Jalen Reagor (73), despite the fact that the Eagles selected the latter ahead of the former.

Meanwhile, nine wide receivers who weren’t selected in the first round received an overall rating of 70 or higher, though Laviska Shenault Jr. of the Jaguars was the highest at 72.

Madden players are sure to use Ruggs on constant streaks down the field, taking advantage of that speed. However, as the 2020 NFL Draft was one of the most wide receiver-rich classes in recent memory, it’s no shock that there are many options for gamers to build their franchises around as pass-catchers.
