Could the Philadelphia Eagles be adding Yannick Ngakoue via trade?

The news cycle has been pretty slow in the NFL since the draft concluded at the end of April. But that could be changing as apparently the Philadelphia Eagles are set to make some big news.

That’s the word from NFL analyst Brian Baldinger, who says he’s been hearing whispers behind the scenes that the Eagles have something brewing.

He didn’t say what that move could be, but simply let us know the Eagles could be getting a lot better with the calendar making its way through July.

His teaser has wheels turning, with many wondering what the move could be. One option is they could be looking to sign Jadeveon Clowney, the free-agent defensive end who has yet to find a new home but has been mentioned as a possible Eagles target.

Although, Clowney isn’t the only edge rusher who has been linked to the Eagles this offseason. Back in March, Philadelphia was listed as a team that could have a lot of interest in Jacksonville Jaguars’ defensive end Yannick Ngakoue.

Yannick Ngakoue would be a tremendous fit with the Philadelphia Eagles

Ngakoue was tagged by the Jaguars who still have his rights for the 2020 NFL Season but he’s made it clear he no longer wishes to play for them. Jacksonville has yet to engage in serious trade talks, that we know of, but the expectation is that he will be on a different team this coming season.

The Eagles would be a great fit for Ngakoue, but the question comes down to the price tag. Ngakoue has been a great edge rusher since entering the league, never posting less than eight sacks in a single season.

For that reason, the Jags are likely asking for a first-round pick and possibly more. On top of that, the Eagles — or whoever ends up landing him — would then have to turn around and give Ngakoue a big extension.

Having said that, Ngakoue would be a player that makes the Eagles “a lot better” which is what Baldinger is hinting at. Perhaps this is the move he’s hearing about.
