4. Bobby Massie, Offensive Tackle

The Chicago Bears’ offensive line took a beating in 2019, literally and figuratively. The fans were relentless in their criticism of everyone on the line. Yes, there were struggles on the line, but there were also injuries and that ill-advised switch of James Daniels and Cody Whitehair.

If you wrote a movie script and had the number of injuries on the right side of the line that the Bears had in 2019, people would say it wasn’t realistic. The team had to use three starting right guards and two starting right tackles just on the right side. Interestingly enough, the entire left side and the center didn’t suffer from injuries.

Bobby Massie has taken his fair share of lumps from the fans. He had a pretty good 2018. He played in all of the Bears’ 1,070 snaps, allowing just 2 pressures and committing only 4 penalties. He was a big reason why the Bears’ offensive line ranked seventh in pass protection.

Things didn’t go as well for him in 2019. Because of his injury, he only played in 57 percent of the team’s snaps.

If Massie can show he is healthy again and play to his 2018 form, and with the addition of others along the line, the Chicago Bears’ offensive line could become a strong point.
