1. Dalvin Cook

The top target that will continue to be the centerpiece of the Vikings offense during the 2020 NFL season is running back Dalvin Cook.

Although Cook is still searching for a contract extension leading into the new year, the running back will regardless be right in the middle to what Mike Zimmer and company attempt to accomplish on that side of the field throughout the course of the season.

During the 2019 season, Zimmer often times expressed publicly his desire for the team to dedicate the offense to focus on Cook and the running game. That resulted on the young running back having a solid season in his third year in the NFL, resulting in a Pro Bowl selection for the first time in his career.

During the season, Cook finished the year appearing in a career-high 14 regular-season games, tallying 250 carries for 1,135 yards and 13 touchdowns, which is tied for the most rushing touchdowns in a season in franchise history. Cook also finished the season with a total of 53 catches for 519 yards through the air out of the backfield.

There’s no reason to believe that Cook won’t return to the focal point of the offense in 2020 to counter the passing attack led by Kirk Cousins, Adam Thielen and company through the air. His ability to also be a dual running back that is able to run and catch out of the backfield makes him one of the top five running backs in the NFL going into his fourth season.

With Minnesota likely to return to leaning on Cook — if they are able to come to some sort of contract compromise ahead of the start of the regular season — throughout the course of the 2020 campaign, we could once again see him be the top target on offense and enjoy yet another dominant year with the purple and gold.
