Packers early bold prediction No. 2: Jaire Alexander named first-team All-Pro

The Packers have a rising star at cornerback, and his name is Jaire Alexander. Drafted in the first round in 2018, Alexander has been a consistent performer for Green Bay in his two seasons as a pro. He finished the 2019 season with 17 passes defensed, tied for fourth-most in the NFL. Alexander was one of the NFL’s best defenders in man coverage last season, and he’s only getting better.

Despite a successful season, though, Alexander wasn’t selected as a Pro Bowler. While not the end of the world, players are often compensated for such awards and appreciate the recognition. Because of that, Alexander should be even more motivated in 2020. This coming season could provide a look into what he’s is truly capable of, which could mean a more prestigious award than the Pro Bowl.

Alexander stated before the 2019 season that he saw himself as a future All-Pro. If he continues the path he’s on currently, 2020 could be the year his prediction comes true. The Packers would love if that happens, seeing that they haven’t had an All-Pro cornerback since Charles Woodson.

My bold prediction is that Alexander is named a first-team All-Pro by the Associated Press. He’ll need the production to prove it, which means several interceptions and pass-breakups. Alexander had just two interceptions last year, but dropped several others. If he converts those opportunities into turnovers, he’ll have a great chance of being an All-Pro in 2020.
