Dallas Cowboys linebackers: Fighting for a Job

Luke Gifford

Another undrafted player, Luke Gifford joined Dallas in 2019 and appeared in six games with six tackles. The Nebraska product struggled to stay healthy but with there being a lack of offseason programs for the incoming undrafted free agents to catch on, Gifford has the upper-hand on the final roster spot at linebacker — assuming they go just six deep.

Francis Bernard

Undrafted out of Utah, Francis Bernard comes in off a great campaign for the Utes in which he had 85 tackles and two picks. This came after he transferred from BYU following the 2016 season.

Health scares clouded his future but the solid 2019 campaign helped Bernard get a chance at making his NFL dreams come true.

His calling card is going to be hos coverage ability, which is something he did incredibly well for Utah. That’s not a bad thing for a linebacker to fall back on either considering how pass-happy NFL teams are.

Azur Kamara

Azur Kamara (no relation to Alvin Kamara) was a JUCO transfer who finished his career with Kansas. Kamara was a defensive end but, at 242-pounds, his future in the NFL will likely be as a pass-rushing linebacker.
