Chicago stays at No. 18

After going 12-4 in 2018 on the strength of their defense, the Chicago Bears took a step back in 2019. Their offense struggled to find any rhythm and that led to a four-game drop off as they finished 8-8, which was good for third place in the NFC North.

While he isn’t terrible, the fact is, Mitchell Trubisky had a lot to do with their struggles. The former No. 2 overall pick has had some moments where he looks the part of an NFL quarterback but then he misses some of the easier throws — which can lead to extreme frustration.

In an effort to push him — and get themselves a fallback option — the Bears traded for Nick Foles from the Jacksonville Jaguars. While Foles never made it work in Jacksonville, he was good enough in relief of Carson Wentz in 2017 to win a Super Bowl for the Philadelphia Eagles.

He proved in those playoffs that he can catch fire and put plenty of points on the board. In Chicago, there’s a chance he could have success considering how good the defense has been — and how they can be even better with the addition of Robert Quinn.

Of course, they likely hope that Foles brings the best out of Trubisky, but only time will tell how this one will play out.
