Chargers move from No. 26 to 25

There’s a huge change coming for the Los Angeles Chargers who have moved on from Philip Rivers. Originally drafted by the New York Giants in 2004, Rivers was traded on draft night for Eli Manning — who adamantly opposed playing for the Chargers, who were in San Diego at the time. Rivers started his career behind Drew Brees but took over in 2006 and has been under center ever since.

Now, he leaves and joins the Indianapolis Colts in free agency which puts Tyrod Taylor in line to be the starter in 2020. Of course, Taylor finds himself in a familiar situation with Justin Herbert, the team’s first-round pick, behind him trying to warm his opportunity.

Taylor had a similar situation with the Cleveland Browns and after three starts for them in 2018, he was supplanted by Baker Mayfield — who stepped in for a concussed Taylor on a Thursday Night Football game against the New York Jets. Now, he hopes to hold Herbert off who has a lot of talent but needs to become more consistent overall.

While L.A. tries to figure out what’s going on with their quarterback situation, they will also be assessing the rest of their roster. They have good players but overall, there are a lot of holes to try and address. That’s expected for any team coming off a 5-11 campaign.
