Lamar Jackson is underrated in Madden 21

Current Rating: 94 OVR | Suggested Rating: 97 OVR

To be sure, Lamar Jackson is not in the same category as Patrick Mahomes. Though the Baltimore Ravens quarterback won NFL MVP last season, he’s not a Super Bowl champion to this point and still has plenty of room to grow as a passer. Despite all of that, there’s no way that Jackson should be five rating points behind Mahomes and even three points behind Russell Wilson.

Given the type of dynamic rushing ability, athleticism and pure arm talent that Jackson possesses — not to mention the fact that he’s on the cover of the upcoming game — he should be in the upper-90s. The fact that he falls so dramatically short of that really seems like an oversight or maybe even a slight on the part of the ratings adjustors.

Trent Williams is overrated in Madden 21

Current Rating: 92 OVR | Suggested Rating: 87 OVR

The last time that we saw offensive tackle Trent Williams on the field for the Washington NFL franchise, he was undeniably one of the best players at his position in the league. Of course, the last time we saw him was in the 2018 season as he sat out all of last year. Now 32 years old and joining a new team in the San Francisco 49ers, we don’t know what he’ll look like, all told.

Despite his talent prior to missing last year, Williams offers a ton of unknown. So the fact that he received the same overall rating as players such as Ezekiel Elliott, Jamal Adams, Nick Chubb and others of that caliber seems a bit off. It would be better to temper expectations a bit and have Williams, instead, in the mid-to-high 80s.
