The Packers need to knock the 2021 NFL Draft out of the park.

Few teams have drawn the ire of their fans quite like the Green Bay Packers have going into 2020. After the franchise went 13-3 last season, winning the NFC North and making it to the NFC Championship Game, the offseason has left many people wanting. So even though the new season hasn’t even begun, some may already be dreaming of the 2021 NFL Draft.

The Packers offseason was simply baffling. In free agency, they downgraded at right tackle, letting Bryan Bulaga walk and signing Rick Wagner. Green Bay then did something similar as they waved goodbye to Blake Martinez to sign oft-injured Christian Kirksey. Meanwhile, their one “big” signing to address their biggest need at wide receiver was signing Devin Funchess.

For as strange as free agency was, the 2020 draft was even more perplexing. Trading up from No. 30 to No. 26 and selecting quarterback Jordan Love headlines that but let’s also not forget that they took a bruising running back, A.J. Dillon, in the second round before taking an H-Back/tight end, Josiah Deguara, in the third. They also didn’t select a single wide receiver.

Given all of that and some fortunate luck that the Packers enjoyed last season, many expect Green Bay to regress in the 2020 season. A big part of that is the fact that quarterback Aaron Rodgers still only has one proven option in the passing game, stud wideout Davante Adams. That has to change at some point in the future, as does addressing linebacker adequately and so on.

And again, that leads us to looking at the 2021 NFL Draft. This team can’t just have a good draft but, to essentially make up for dropping the ball in 2020, they need to hit a home run. That’s the goal here in this early 2021 NFL mock draft for the Packers prior to the start of training camp, compiled using The Draft Network mock draft machine.
