Early 2021 NFL free agency rankings: George Kittle headlines top 70 players

62. Leonard Williams, DE (Franchise Tag), New York Giants
When the New York Jets selected Williams with the sixth overall pick in 2015, they believed he could become a generational defensive end. At first, Williams flashed potential. He made the Pro Bowl in only his second season and played a balanced game. However, things unraveled from there.
While Williams continued contributing quarterback hits, his sacks, tackles, and tackles for loss all decreased rapidly during his third season. Last year, the Jets traded Williams to the Giants for draft picks. The move came as a surprise, seeing as Williams was already halfway through his rookie deal’s final season.
While he didn’t do anything overly impressive with the Giants, New York franchise-tagged Williams this offseason. The team owes him slightly over $16 million this year.
61. Melvin Ingram, DE/OLB, Los Angeles Chargers
In 2017, Ingram signed a four-year, $64 million extension. The former 18th overall pick made the Pro Bowl in each of the past three seasons and formed a dynamic pass-rushing duo with Joey Bosa. While he isn’t an elite pass rusher, Ingram accomplished a lot with the Chargers since joining the organization in 2012.
Ingram is fourth in Chargers franchise history in sacks with 49. Most of those sacks came during the past five years. During that stretch, Ingram produced 43 sacks, 92 quarterback hits and 10 forced fumbles in 77 games. While the Chargers want to keep the 31-year-old pass rusher around when his contract expires, that might not be possible.
