Madden 21 rating: 99

It’s no surprise that the highest-ranked player on New England comes at the cornerback spot for the Patriots and veteran Stephon Gilmore. Gilmore, who received a perfect 99 rating by Madden 21, was one of five players in the NFL to be named to the 99 Club by the video game.

Along with that 99 rating, Gilmore received attribute ratings of 92 in speed, 94 in acceleration, 70 in strength, 94 in agility, 99 in awareness, 76 in catching ability, 68 in tackling, 92 in jumping ability, 94 in injury, 96 in stamina and 77 in toughness, to list a few of those attributes.

The lockdown defender and anchor in the back end of the Patriots defense will be entering his ninth season in the NFL and fourth with New England in 2020, having been selected to two of his three Pro Bowl selections in 2018 and 2019.

In year eight in 2019, Gilmore managed to take the field for all 16 of the Patriots’ regular-season matchups, finishing the season with 53 combined tackles, 44 solo tackles, one fumble recovery a career-best six interceptions and a career-high two defensive touchdowns.

Getting named to the 99 Club in Madden is elite company and will bring on high expectations for Gilmore as he begins another year in Foxborough in 2020. And the Patriots hope he is able to live up to those expectations early and often in the new year.
