These five NFL teams could shatter expectations in the 2020 season.

It’s hard to predict what is going to happen in the NFL year after year. While it’s true there are certain things we can come to expect, there’s also always an element of surprise.

Last season is a perfect example. All of us knew the New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs were going to be good teams — and they were. We also knew one of those two franchises would likely represent the AFC in the Super Bowl — which was also true.

What we weren’t expecting was to see a team such as the Tennessee Titans catch fire in the playoffs and knock off the Baltimore Ravens and New England Patriots. Tennesee wound up losing to the Chiefs who won it all, but they were still a tough out that no one saw coming.

Another surprise was the San Francisco 49ers. They weren’t good the season prior since they lost quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to a torn ACL and his return to health did have some predicting success for the Niners in 2019. However, they were even better than expected as they were the NFC champs and made it a great contest against the Chiefs.

Other recent surprises in the NFL include the Jacksonville Jaguars making it to the AFC Championship Game in 2017 and the Philadelphia Eagles winning it all that year despite losing their star quarterback near the end of the season.

Here we will look at five teams that can exceed expectations in 2020, the way the above-mentioned clubs did. Of course, this doesn’t mean these are favorites to make it to the championship round but still, these five clubs could very well shatter their expectations for the 2020 NFL season.
