4. The Green Bay Packers don’t need the NFL preseason

The Green Bay Packers are always on this list. As an organization, they pride themselves on experiencing limited roster turnover by drafting and developing all of their prospects. Every once and a while they will make a few free agent moves, but they are rarely impactful starters. As such, they have the benefit of offensive and defensive chemistry on their side.

The good news for Aaron Rodgers is he doesn’t have to worry much about developing rapport with his skill position players. Devin Funchess was the only addition to the Packers’ wide receiver room this offseason despite there being a need for reinforcements at the position; still, Funchess will at best be the third passing option in this offense, so there isn’t much on his plate.

Ricky Wagner will join a stout offensive line at right tackle, replacing longtime Packers starter Bryan Bulaga after his free-agency departure, but Wagner is a veteran player who should have success in Matt LaFleur’s run-first scheme.

On defense, former Browns’ linebacker Christian Kirksey is the only new starter. Given his solid track record during his six-year career, Kirksey shouldn’t have a problem adjusting to Mike Pettine’s defense, especially given Kirksey played under Pettine in Cleveland for the first two years of his NFL career. Overall, the Packers will be able to hit the ground running against their divisional rival in Week 1.
