4 Worst NFL starting quarterback situations in 2020

1. The Washington Football Team
Starting QB: Dwayne Haskins or Alex Smith
Well, most of us were under the impression Alex Smith wouldn’t really walk again, let alone be cleared to play football for the Football Team again. But here we are.
The Football Team now has a happy conundrum of sorts to decide if second-year guy Dwayne Haskins or veteran Alex Smith will be the team’s QB1. Washington will likely roll with Haskins as the draft capital spent on him was robust. But it will not be shocking if he flounders in the first month of the season, and new head coach Ron Rivera makes the switch to Smith.
As it pertains to all coaches, Rivera does not like to lose and will probably start whichever quarterback impresses the most in practice. We just don’t know if Alex Smith’s return to the Football Team is the real deal.
Either way, the Red-Blanks will not be very good, and the quarterback will be to blame. Last season, Washington ranked 25th in team passer rating. It was only “that high” because quarterback Case Keenum was semi-competent at times. Dwayne Haskins was not. He ranked dead last in the NFL in QBR, and that was out of 34 total quarterbacks, albeit he was a rookie.
Haskins will need a whole lot of maturity — quickly — to avoid being one of the worst quarterbacks in the NFL in 2020.
