2. Damon Harrison

If the Chicago Bears want to continue the great run defense in the middle of the line, they might want to check in on Damon Harrison. Throughout his eight-year career, he’s been an elite run stopper. He posted a 90+ run grade for four straight seasons and led all defensive tackles in run-stop percentage from 2014 to 2017.

That was, however, until last season. For some reason, he took a big dive in his play in 2019. He had the seventh-worst tackling grade of all defensive tackles.

Some could say that Harrison’s awful season is a sign of his decline. The decline was so big, though, that one could say that it was just an aberration. Nearly every player has that one season that is completely different from their normally efficient career. That could be the case for Harrison.

Harrison dealt with groin and knee injuries throughout the season so that could be a reason for his bad play.

With the Lions cutting him, Harrison could see the Bears situation as a chance to redeem himself. He is familiar with the players in the NFC North so there wouldn’t be an adjustment for him. He could use this one season as a chance to show other teams that 2019 was a blip and that he’s still a viable player.

Playing with an elite Chicago Bears defense would certainly help bolster Harrison’s case. Surrounded by elite defenders, he’ll try to up his game. He already feels like he’s one of the best so being among the best will motivate him to prove it. We already saw the improvement Buster Skrine had playing on this defense. If Harrison can do it as well, the Bears might not miss a beat in 2020.
