3. Tre’Davious White, CB, Buffalo Bills

Lingering questions about quarterback Josh Allen tend to color my perceptions about the Buffalo Bills and their long-term outlook. Unless he takes a sizeable step forward as a passer, particularly with his ability to accurately push the ball down the field, this team might have a ceiling capped on them. And that’s unfortunate when you look at the rest of the roster.

The Bills have done a tremendous job of building their roster under the watch of general manager Brandon Beane and head coach Sean McDermott. That’s one of the reasons why, even with the concerns about Allen, Buffalo appears to be the frontrunner to take control of the AFC East as the Patriots enter a transition period, Cam Newton or not.

Cornerback Tre’Davious White has been a critical cog in that. He hit the ground running as a rookie, showing up as one of the league’s best cornerbacks in that season. While he hasn’t been as good in the past two years, he’s still been an A-player at the position. Moreover, the Bills cornerback room hasn’t done him a ton of favors as he’s put on an island so often, something that may persist in 2020 as well.

Despite that, the No. 27 overall pick from the 2017 NFL Draft deserves a long-term contract from Buffalo. If you want to see that secondary really have issues, remove White from the equation and see what happens. The LSU product is a bonafide stud and the Bills need to pay him as such to keep him as a focal point on that side of the ball.
