These Minnesota Vikings fantasy football storylines should be watched at training camp.

As the Minnesota Vikings and the rest of the league prepare for the start of the 2020 NFL season, the topic of fantasy football has emerged leading into the new year. Annually, football fans worldwide begin the process of asking themselves who they would like to draft for their fantasy football lineups for the upcoming season and what personnel to target as potential players on their rosters for another season.

In 2020, that decision process might be a bit slimmer and more difficult for fans as players around the NFL start to opt-out of the season due to COVID-19 concerns around the globe. That will likely continue to be a topic to keep in mind as the season continues to approach to an eventual start.

When it comes specifically to the Vikings, they have only had one player opt-out of the upcoming season so far — newly signed defensive lineman Michael Pierce — although more players could ultimately decide to join Pierce before the regular season schedule kicks off later on this calendar year.

If a majority of the roster does indeed return to the field this year in Minnesota, however, the Vikings will once again have some solid options to look at as far as fantasy football players on both sides of the ball in 2020.

When it comes to the offense, Minnesota has solid options such as wide receiver Adam Thielen, running back Dalvin Cook, quarterback Kirk Cousins, tight end targets Kyle Rudolph and Irv Smith Jr. and potentially some newcomers such as rookie wide receiver Justin Jefferson.

On defense, although it has undergone a bit of a change throughout the offseason, the Vikings have had one of the top defensive groups in the league annually over the last handful of seasons. And as long as Mike Zimmer is still the head coach of the team, there could be a strong possibility that is once again the case this season.

As the new season continues to approach, let’s take a look at three fantasy football storylines to watch for with the purple and gold preparing to start a new year in Minnesota.
