Vikings training camp: 3 Fantasy football storylines to watch in Minnesota
1. Will Dalvin Cook continue to be a top fantasy running back?
Over the past few years, the Vikings have dedicated themselves to the running game and their young stud running back Dalvin Cook to lead the charge of the offense while opening things up in the passing game to balance the look of the offense out.
In 2020, that will once again be the case with Cook in Minnesota, granted the two sides can ultimately come to an agreement on a contract extension before the new year begins.
Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer has been very public about the team’s desire to dedicate themselves to the running game on the offensive side of the ball, which means Cook will be set up for yet another breakout year in 2020 and will become one of the top fantasy football running backs yet again for another season.
During the 2019 campaign, Cook was one of the best producing running backs both in real life for Minnesota and in fantasy football, putting together a season where he was fairly healthy for the majority of it for the first time in his career.
A year ago, Cook finished the year appearing in a career-high 14 regular-season games, tallying 250 carries for 1,135 yards and 13 touchdowns, which is tied for the most rushing touchdowns in a season in franchise history. Cook also finished the season with a total of 53 catches for 519 yards through the air out of the backfield.
Cook and the Vikings should ultimately come to an agreement on some sort of contract extension, whether that happens before the season or during the year to keep him in Minnesota for years to come. And that should result in a high production both on the field and in fantasy football for one of the top running backs in the NFL for yet another year.
