The Dallas Cowboys could fill some needs as the calendar turns to August

This offseason saw a lot of change for the Dallas Cowboys. After 10 seasons of watching Jason Garrett clap his way through each week, they finally pulled the plug and hired Mike McCarthy as the new head coach heading into the 2020 NFL campaign.

McCarthy kept Kellen Moore on his staff, clearly impressed with the work the young offensive coordinator did in his debut campaign. Outside of Moore, the rest of the staff has seen a massive overhaul.

New defensive coordinator Mike Nolan is a breath of fresh air following years of Rod Marinelli failing to deliver a solid gameplan in the biggest games. Nolan also prefers bigger defensive linemen which is why they finally signed a nose tackle who wasn’t an undrafted free agent or coming off an opposing practice squad.

Instead of trying to find a diamond in the rough, the new staff brought in Dontari Poe who will man the nose. Next to him is another free agent signing in Gerald McCoy, who played alongside Poe at Carolina last season. That was just one of several changes to the roster as they also brought in safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and defensive end Aldon Smith — who is quite a wild card after missing the past four seasons.

This is all without even getting into the moves they made in the 2020 NFL Draft which landed them some potential stars on both sides of the ball.

With all the moves being done, fans are excited to see their new-look Cowboys take the field. And now that they’re getting their 2020 training camp underway, we all finally will see some of these players in their new roles.

Of course, the start of camp could also help the front office realize they need more help in certain areas. With that being said, here are three remaining free agents in August that the Dallas Cowboys could still add.
