The 2021 NFL Draft gives the Giants an EDGE in this mock draft.

5. New York Giants: Gregory Rousseau, EDGE, Miami

There are reasons to be excited about the New York Giants when you look at their offense and the potential development of Daniel Jones with Saquon Barkley. The defense is another story entirely. That starts with the pass rush, of which they have none right now. Gregory Rousseau has the opportunity to change that as a dynamic player who exploded in 2019 with sack production and should only develop further with another season on the edge.

6. Detroit Lions: Micah Parsons, LB, Penn State

With the possibility that Matthew Stafford might be on his way out of Detroit, quarterback was a consideration here. Yet, I couldn’t shake the notion of getting another defensive standout to try and get that side of the ball fixed. Micah Parsons is a stud and would immediately be the best young linebacker on the roster, pairing with veteran Jamie Collins. His ability to move sideline-to-sideline in every facet of the game should help tremendously in the Motor City.

7. Los Angeles Chargers: Patrick Surtain II, CB, Alabama

Signing Chris Harris Jr. to pair with Casey Hayward this offseason will do wonders for the Chargers secondary and this team will hang its hat on the defense in 2020. The issue, however, is that Hayward has endured injury woes and both are veterans. Patrick Surtain II brings NFL bloodlines out of Alabama and has the size, length and physical tools to be a shutdown player on the outside.

8. Miami Dolphins: DeVonta Smith, WR, Alabama

Even after DeVante Parker broke out (finally) last season and though 2019 undrafted free agent signing Preston Williams flashed prior to his injury as a rookie, the Dolphins wide receiver corps needs some help. Tua Tagovailoa gets one of his favorite weapons with DeVonta Smith coming to South Beach. Smith’s size is of some concern but, when you turn on the tape, his complete arsenal at the position makes him too enticing to pass up if you’re Miami.
