10 NFL players destined to make their first Pro Bowl in 2020
6. Baker Mayfield, QB, Cleveland Browns
Baker Mayfield and the Cleveland Browns let many people down last season, plain and simple. After setting the rookie passing touchdown record in 2018, it seemed that the No. 1 overall pick from that year’s draft was set for a true breakout season and to lead his team to success. But he regressed, whether that was because of his own issues, the offensive line’s abysmal play or former head coach Freddie Kitchens being in over his head.
But I still believe in the talent of Mayfield and the situation he’s in. The line has largely been fixed and he has two elite wide receiver weapons with Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry. There is also help at tight end with Austin Hooper and (maybe) David Njoku to go with stud running back Nick Chubb. With this unit and with a nice offensive hire in Kevin Stefanski, Mayfield might bounce back and show the progression we were hoping to see last year.
5. Ryan Ramczyk, OT, New Orleans Saints
The fact that Saints right tackle Ryan Ramczyk hasn’t made a Pro Bowl to this point is more an indictment of the voting process rather than saying that he hasn’t broken out just yet. The last pick of the first round in the 2017 NFL Draft was Second-Team All-Pro in the 2018 season and First-Team All-Pro last year. It truthfully makes little to no sense that he hasn’t gotten the Pro Bowl nod to this point.
Hopefully the 2020 season is when that gets rectified for Ramczyk because he’s been one of the best offensive tackles in the league, hands down. In 2019, PFF (subscription required) graded the Saints right-side protector as the No. 1 player at the position in the league at 90.9. While that was his best grade, he’s been over 81.0 in all three NFL seasons. It’s time he gets the nod to Vegas.
