4. DeVante Parker, WR, Miami Dolphins

Go figure that the year everyone was expecting the Miami Dolphins to potentially go winless was the year that wide receiver DeVante Parker actually had the breakout year so many people had been waiting for him to enjoy. As the Dolphins surprised with their five victories last year, Parker played a critical role as he had 72 receptions for 1,202 yards and nine touchdowns, all of which were career-highs.

We still don’t have full clarity about the quarterback situation in Miami, whether veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick or rookie Tua Tagovailoa will start the majority of the team’s games. Having said that, with opt-outs thinning the team’s receiving corps, Parker is the no-question top option and should have the chance to build on finally realizing his potential a year ago.

3. D’Andre Swift, RB, Detroit Lions

Some people might think that Clyde Edwards-Helaire or Jonathan Taylor are better rookie running backs in terms of the possibility of making the Pro Bowl. They both have their cases, to be sure. But for me, D’Andre Swift is in the best spot to make that happen.

The Georgia product is an elite talent at the position with the ability to gain yardage as both a power and speed runner. He has great short-area quickness and the ability to make guys miss while also being a plus-asset as a pass-catcher out of the backfield.

Though Kerryon Johnson is still in Detroit, Johnson is not as talented and, perhaps more pressingly, has had trouble staying healthy. Swift should take this job pretty quickly and has the goods in a good offense when Matthew Stafford is healthy to make something of his chances.
