Tre’ McKitty gives the Cowboys a fourth-round TE to groom
With their fourth-round pick in this mock, the Dallas Cowboys add some depth to the tight end room by takin Georgia’s Tre’ McKitty. A transfer from Florida State, McKitty has 520 yards and two touchdowns on 50 career receptions.
His numbers don’t jump off the page but as Drae Harris of The Draft Network points out, he has all the tools to develop into an all-around tight end capable of blocking in the run game while also testing defenses as a receiver.
"In the run game, he’s sufficient due to his willingness as a blocker. He will hold the point and is more of a positional blocker, but certainly good enough in this regard to be effective in the NFL. In the passing game, he is very good and moves very similar to a bigger WR. He is versatile enough to be a matchup problem against defenders."
In Dallas, McKitty would likely serve as a second tight end behind Blake Jarwin who was just given a three-year extension this offseason. Behind Jarwin is Blake Bell and Dalton Schultz who each has their own positive traits but Dallas could use a more well-rounded player such as McKitty.
