Damon Arnette coming in as the second of two first-round picks will surely help the Las Vegas Raiders out this season. They also have Amik Robertson who could end up being one of the steals of the draft. The only concern is, neither of them has played in the NFL yet.

Both could end up being perfectly fine but the Raiders won’t know that for sure until the regular season gets underway. Due to the league canceling the preseason, there won’t be exhibition snaps for players such as Arnette and Robertson. For that reason, Las Vegas could decide to add a veteran player such as Logan Ryan to help them out in 2020 as they get the two young corners some experience.

Ryan is a seven-year veteran who spent four seasons with the New England Patriots before joining the Tennessee Titans in the 2017 offseason. He then spent the past three years there where he started 45 games and had 251 tackles with four interceptions. Oddly enough, all four of those picks came in 2019.

In addition to his coverage ability, Ryan had a new-found skill over the past two seasons as he picked up 8.5 sacks while blitzing the quarterback. New defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli has been reluctant to blitz in the past but he too started to do this more often over the past couple of seasons, often sending Jourdan Lewis into the offensive backfield while he was with Dallas.

Ryan is still looking for a home and landing with the Raiders for one season could be a win-win for him and the team as they could help one another out. Vegas could get a veteran mentor while Ryan could bolster his resume for another run at free agency in 2021.
