Eventually, I had to take the best value at running back to help fill out the position on this roster. That’s why the pick at 4.09 was Bills running back Devin Singletary. As a rookie last year, it took him a bit to grab the true starting role but he still finished as RB32 because he was that good. Over Weeks 8-16, he was ninth among running backs in scrimmage yards and averaged 18.9 touches per game.
The one big concern about Singletary is that the Bills just drafted Zack Moss, a bruising back out of Utah. And the big bugaboo with the Buffalo back was his touchdown production because he didn’t get a ton of red-zone work. Even still, Singletary should firmly occupy the starting role and be a quality RB2 for this roster.
Round 5
- Team 1 (5.01) – Keenan Allen, WR, LAC
- Team 2 (5.02) – Dak Prescott, QB, DAL
- Team 3 (5.03) – D.J. Chark, WR, JAX
- Team 4* (5.04) – Tyler Lockett, WR, SEA
- Team 5 (5.05) – Raheem Mostert, RB, SF
- Team 6 (5.06) – Ronald Jones II, RB, TB
- Team 7 (5.07) – Terry McLaurin, WR, WAS
- Team 8 (5.08) – T.Y. Hilton, WR, IND
- Team 9 (5.09) – Kareem Hunt, RB, CLE
- Team 10 (5.10) – Mark Ingram, RB, BAL
- Team 11 (5.11) – Mark Andrews, TE, BAL
- Team 12 (5.12) – Courtland Sutton, WR, DEN
In the simplest terms, Tyler Lockett is one of the most undervalued football players in the NFL. Because the Seahawks offense is so often criticized for not passing enough, Lockett gets the short end of the stick. Yet, he finished as the WR13 in fantasy football last season, getting 82 receptions (110 targets) for 1,057 yards and eight touchdowns.
Lockett is a unique player in that he has home-run ability but also has developed into a more well-rounded player, which we saw last season. Even with D.K. Metcalf in the fold, Lockett should still be considered the top target in the Seattle passing offense and, with top-15 expectations at the position this year again, getting him at 5.04 feels like nice value.
