Green Bay Packers players with most to prove in 2020 training camp
By Joe Kipp
3. Montravius Adams, DL
Like Oren Burks, Montravius Adams is another former third-round pick who hasn’t lived up to his draft status. Selected in 2017, Adams has yet to make a substantial impact in three seasons with the Packers. He’s posted 33 tackles in 37 games played so far.
In college at Auburn, Adams was a five-star recruit and showed plenty of promise as an interior pass-rusher. He was named first-team All-SEC in 2016 and finished his college career with 10.5 sacks and 19.5 tackles for losses.
At this point, it’s fair to say Adams has been a disappointment in the NFL based on expectations. He simply hasn’t been able to get on the field and hasn’t exactly been good when on it. He was also arrested this past offseason and charged with three misdemeanors, including possession of marijuana, driving without insurance and driving with a suspended vehicle registration.
Adams has a lot to prove on the field during training camp. Besides Kenny Clark and Dean Lowry, the Packers don’t have much depth along the interior of the defensive line. It’s probably more likely than not that Adams gets cut before the season starts, provided he doesn’t impress in the meantime.
