It’s hard to find anyone who didn’t approve of the work done in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys. They seemed to hit on every single pick as they landed solid talent at a great value in round after round.

Of course, the best two picks still look to be the first ones they made. At 17 overall, they took Oklahoma wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and then at 51, it was Alabama cornerback Trevon Diggs. Each is expected to contribute early and so far in camp, they both appear to be up to the task.

Lamb didn’t hesitate to turn heads as the rookie made an impressive one-handed catch during their first non-padded practice. He also has garnered praise from fellow Cowboy Ezekiel Elliott, who is using the word “great” to describe the newest No. 88 in Big D.

Lamb isn’t just being used as a receiver either as he’s been lining up as a punt returner on special teams for Dallas — something he did at times for the Oklahoma Sooners as well.

Getting Lamb work on special teams is brilliant by the Cowboys coaches as it’s just one more way to put the ball in his hands. And they need to find ways to do that considering they’re stacked out wide with the rookie joining Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup who each had 1,000-yards last season.

As for Diggs, he’s been turning heads with his ability to track the ball in the air. Also, he shows no fear when going up against the strong Dallas receiving corps. That could have something to do with the fact that his older brother is Stefon Diggs, the Buffalo Bills No. 1 wide receiver. Surely the two have practiced against one another which probably makes it less intimidating for the rookie to face NFL talent.

Head coach Mike McCarthy spoke early in camp about Diggs’ performance, saying he will adjust quickly to the NFL while also praising his ball skills.

It’s not just teammates or coaches noticing either as Stephen Jones, the team’s vice president of player personnel, also spoke on how well the rookie class is performing.

It’s a far cry from a season ago when fans were frustrated with some of the Cowboys picks. This year, the class looks great on paper, and early on in camp, they appear ready to look just as good on the field.
