2. CeeDee Lamb becomes punt returner

When the Cowboys were on the clock at No. 17 overall, they had a pretty big decision to make. They had big needs defensive back and defensive end. At defense end, K’Lavon Chaisson from LSU was on the board and he would’ve been a great pick for them there 17 — their top defensive backs were off the board already, meaning Chaisson looked to be the guy.

The only problem was, there was someone still available that they had ranked even higher than the LSU edge rusher — CeeDee Lamb. The Oklahoma receiver was apparently the No. 6 overall player on the Cowboys’ board. The only problem was, Dallas was pretty stacked with receiver position. They just give it Amari Cooper a five-year extension worth $100 million, and Michael Gallup was coming off his first 1,000-yard receiving season.

Even with that being the case, the Cowboys pulled the trigger on Lamb who will not only replace the departed Randall Cobb, but he can also help take some of the passing targets that went to veteran tight end Jason Witten last season.

So far in camp, Lamb has been turning heads. He made an impressive one-handed catch during their first practice, and has shown great speed in his routes and has displayed the ability to separate from defensive backs. He’s also been fielding punts, which is a great site for Cowboys fans to see.

For years, special teams in Dallas have been anything but special. A player such as Lamb offers someone with game-changing speed at a position of need. It also helps get the ball in his hands since he’s a special player but is on an offense with plenty of other game-changers.
