2020 NFL Power Rankings: Cowboys defense has hopes high

New York Jets move up from 30 to 23
Last season, the New York Jets actually had a winning record when quarterback Sam Darnold was in the lineup. He missed three games as he battled with mono, and the team was 0-3 with him on the sidelines. While he didn’t exactly light it up, he did do enough for them to be a competitive team.
Heading into the 2020 season, it seemed as though they could be a team to take the next step. They added a new offensive tackle in an effort to help Darnold ‚— taking Mekhi Becton out of Louisville in the first round. After adding Becton, the Jets then took wide receiver Denzel Mims and safety Ashtyn Davis, giving them a stellar draft class.
However, they still find themselves on the outside looking in when it comes to the AFC East. The Buffalo Bills won 10 games and the New England Patriots were again the division winners in 2019. New England was in danger of falling down some after losing Tom Brady but the addition of Cam Newton makes them favorites again.
That has New York looking to be the third team in their division once again. The good news is, the arrow is pointing up — and despite losing Jamal Adams, they have a bright future. Adams was a great safety but they got an absolute haul from the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for him. If they keep drafting like they did in 2020, that could help them finally turn it around.
