Los Angeles Rams move up from 23 to 22

There was a time when Sean McVay was all the rage in the NFL. The youngest head coach in history back in 2017 when he was hired, McVay quickly had the Rams in contention. They even made it to the Super Bowl in his second season as a head coach but came up short as the New England Patriots won the title.

Still, his success had everyone looking for the next hot young coach — and players such as Zac Taylor seemed to get hired simply because they knew McVay. In a copycat league, everyone wanted to copy the Rams.

However, the team’s shine has diminished greatly. They sacrificed draft picks for veteran players on massive contracts in a win-now effort. That’s fine if you win but the Rams didn’t. Not only that, but they didn’t even make the playoffs last season.

With no playoff berth to speak of, they couldn’t even bank on having good draft picks to improve the team since they traded them all away. That means the team that struggled to win in 2019 will be eerily similar to the roster they put on the field this season — minus Brandin Cooks and Todd Gurley. Factor in the rise of the Cardinals and steadiness of the 49ers and Seahawks and this could be a tough season in L.A.
