Carolina Panthers stay put at No. 20

In the offseason, the Carolina Panthers decided to give Matt Rhule a chance to run an NFL team as they chose him to replace Ron Rivera as the new head coach. And they apparently believe he’s going to excel when it comes to that opportunity as he was given a very lucrative, long-term deal.

Rhule rose to prominence with the Temple an Baylor programs and what really makes him interesting is his complete resume. The former collegiate head coach has had experience as position coaches on both sides of the ball while also serving as a special teams coach at one time in Western Carolina.

He’s a guy capable of seeing the whole picture and that’s easy to see in how he’s been building the Panthers in his short tenure. So far, he’s made sure to lock up their best player — Christian McCaffrey — and picked up a new quarterback in Teddy Bridgewater who will be a decent game manager in their run-based offense.

On defense, they added Derrick Brown in the draft as they’re trying to shut down the run game on the other side. They do play in a tough division which will hurt them but overall, Carolina is heading in the right direction.
