The Chicago Bears fall from 18 to 26 in new NFL Power Rankings

The Chicago Bears are a hard team to figure out. Their defense has a chance to be dominant especially after adding Robert Quinn in free agency. Putting him opposite Khalil Mack gives them two premier edge rushers and they’re strong as well on the line, at interior linebacker, and in the secondary.

On offense — not so much. They’re a mess on that side of the ball. They not only are missing many playmakers but they don’t know who will play quarterback as there’s a battle now between Mitch Trubisky and Nik Nick Foles. They’re hoping that their defense can not only carry their offense but hopefully he’ll improve it since they have to battle some elite players as they prepare for their games every week.

"“There’ve been some early signs this week that the Bears’ offense is not going to crumble against a defense expecting to be one of the best in the NFL in 2020. We’ll need to keep seeing completions and energy outweigh incompletions and frustration over the next few weeks – if we do, maybe the Bears’ offense is poised for the sort of uptick that’ll make them a playoff contender this fall.” — JJ Stankevits of NBC Sports Chicago"

Making matters worse, Chicago plays in a division with the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings who are each playoff favorites. There’s also the Detroit Lions who were playing great with Matt Stafford last season before he was hurt. It’s going to be a tough year in the Windy City to say the least.
