Whenever the Chiefs selected Georgia wide receiver Mecole Hardman with a second-round pick in the 2019 draft, it was at a time in which the immediate future of Tyreek Hill was in question. Of course, Hill was available to start the year, though he did go down with injury. Having said that, Hardman didn’t play a big role in the Kansas City offense.

Hardman only had 41 targets and 26 receptions on the season but, in doing so, he showcased his elite big-play ability in this high-octane Chiefs offense — in addition to being a stud returner. Hardman racked up 538 yards on those 26 catches and had six touchdowns as well. That’s a rate that likely won’t continue but his speed still makes him a lethal player whenever he touches the ball.

After a full season with the Chiefs, there is at least potential for Hardman to take up a larger role in the offense as the third wide receiver target behind Hill and Sammy Watkins. And with his propensity for making huge plays, that’s enough for me to take him with pick 9.10 in this fantasy football mock draft.

There’s no question that Hardman presents a bit of a conundrum as it might be hard to know when to play him if Hill and Watkins are healthy. But when you have your starters set and look at the upside of the second-year running back, it’s hard not to be enticed by what he could possibly add to your roster.
